Love on the beach

Perhaps its something about the romance of Hawaii in the eyes of the world, or perhaps its something about the beach which I’ve forgotten, as I never usually sit still on beaches if there are wave to be trashed about by, but since being in Waikiki I’ve been shown partnerships as sturdy and happy. From the playful youngish couple in front of me as I write, to the elderly poncho-laden couple on the boat at the Arizona Memorial, whose hands searing for each other secretly in the crush to exit effected me profoundly, everyone seems determined to crush my usual British cynicism towards long term relationships, at least white I remain in the South Pacific.

Even the sun places itself just behind the gathering clouds to illuminate a young guy kissing his girl in the sand. It’s making me want a cuddle.
